Adaptive Bowling Experience: Bringing Veterans & Community Together in Kenner
The SMCL Foundation & Associates continues to expand its impact through inclusive programming with the Adaptive Bowling Experience—an event designed to bring veterans, individuals with disabilities, and the broader community together for a day of connection, skill-building, and fun.
Hosted in Kenner, Louisiana, this Veterans & Community Experience focuses on individuals who have sustained spinal cord injuries, along with their caregivers and support systems. The goal is simple but powerful: create a welcoming environment where participants can engage in adaptive sports, learn new skills, and enjoy meaningful social interaction.
Adaptive bowling offers more than just recreation—it provides a pathway to confidence, independence, and community engagement. Participants are introduced to techniques and equipment that make the sport accessible, allowing everyone to take part regardless of physical limitations.
This event is made possible through a strong network of partners and supporters, including the Paralyzed Veterans of America (Bayou Gulf States Chapter), the City of Kenner Recreation Department, Move United, the Craig H. Neilson Foundation, the Southeast Louisiana VA Medical Center, and TNT 360 Mobility. Their combined efforts ensure that programs like this continue to grow and reach those who need them most.
Taking place at Game On Social Hub Bowling Venue, the event creates a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere where athletes, families, and community members can come together and share in the experience. From first-time bowlers to those refining their skills, every participant is part of something bigger—a movement focused on accessibility, opportunity, and joy.
This is what adaptive sports are all about: breaking barriers, building confidence, and creating moments that matter.
