Building Community Through Adaptive Sports, Veterans, and Louisiana Tradition

September 25th and 26th, 2026

The 2026 Gumbo Bowl is more than a football event—it’s a community fundraiser benefiting S.M.C.L. Foundation & Associates Inc. Proceeds from the event help support the Foundation’s year-round therapeutic recreation and adaptive sports programs that improve health, fitness, social interaction, independence, and quality of life for youths, adults, seniors, disabled veterans, military service members, and individuals with physical, visual, and economic challenges throughout the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan Region.

This inaugural celebration brings together veterans, active-duty military members, adaptive athletes, families, businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders for two unforgettable days of inclusion, teamwork, and Louisiana culture.

Hosted by S.M.C.L. Foundation & Associates Inc., the Gumbo Bowl features Veterans & Military Wheelchair Football, Flag Football, a Louisiana Gumbo Cook-Off, adaptive sports demonstrations, community resources, live entertainment, local vendors, and family-friendly activities. Every sponsorship, donation, registration, and volunteer helps expand access to adaptive sports and therapeutic recreation programs across our community.

How You Can Get Involved

Whether you’re a business, nonprofit organization, or community supporter, there are many ways to make a lasting impact.

Businesses can become sponsors, host vendor booths, provide in-kind donations, or volunteer employees while gaining valuable exposure and demonstrating their commitment to veterans, adaptive sports, and community inclusion.

Community organizations are invited to share resources, connect with attendees, recruit volunteers, and build partnerships that strengthen the services available throughout the region.

Individuals can volunteer, make a donation, compete in the Gumbo Cook-Off, register to participate, or simply attend with family and friends. Every contribution helps create more opportunities for people of all abilities to stay active, healthy, and connected.
