Empowering Communities

The S.M.C.L. Foundation & Associates Inc. is a non-profit organization established in 2006 with the aim of improving the quality of life for military veterans, citizens with disabilities, and those who are economically challenged. Based in New Orleans, LA, SMCLF received its state charter as a non-profit and 501 (c)(3) designation in 2007.

Our Mission

Our mission involves an all-inclusive approach to raising awareness, providing education, offering training, and fostering competition in adaptive sports and therapeutic recreational services. These efforts benefit individuals with disabilities, the underprivileged, and others who gain valuable learning experiences working in the adaptive sports and therapeutic recreation field. We are currently partnering with the City of Kenner to develop and provide such activities for its population and the greater Metro New Orleans Area.

Acts of Service in the Community

  • Over 1,500 members of the Greater New Orleans community have taken part in our Annual Field of Hope & Toys for Tots give away.
  • Over 3,600 members of the Greater New Orleans community have participated in health fairs to raise awareness and outreach in economically disadvantaged areas.
  • 175 people with disabilities have been helped to discover or perfect their athletic abilities in several different types of wheelchair sports and athletic activities.
  • 1,250 residents of the Greater New Orleans Area have attended community education events and been actively engaged in hands-on activities to learn about life experiences and sports while in a wheelchair.
