Wheels in Motion Clinic: A Celebration of Adaptive Sports at Wentwood Skatepark

Today’s Wheels in Motion WCMX and Skateboarding Clinic at Wentwood Skatepark in Kenner, Louisiana, was an incredible success! With a fantastic turnout, the event brought together athletes, community leaders, and some very special guests to celebrate adaptive sports in a truly unforgettable way.

The clinic was filled with energy as athletes took to the ramps, honing their WCMX (Wheelchair Motocross) and skateboarding skills. It was inspiring to see such dedication and passion from everyone involved, and the support from the community was overwhelming.

A huge highlight of the day was the appearance of players from the New Orleans Saints Wheelchair Football Team. Not only did they come out to support the event, but many players also gave WCMX a try themselves! It was amazing to witness their competitive spirit and enthusiasm as they adapted their skills to the skatepark. Their presence added a layer of excitement to the clinic, showing the strong connection between wheelchair football and WCMX communities.

Adding to the day’s excitement, we were honored to have Kenner Mayor Michael J. Glaser and Deputy CAO Natalie Newton stop by to show their support for adaptive sports. Mayor Glaser’s commitment to accessibility and the growth of adaptive sports programs in Kenner was evident in his enthusiasm. His presence, along with Ms. Newton’s, highlighted the city’s dedication to making Kenner a hub for inclusive recreational opportunities.

Their visit reinforces just how important these events are—not just for the athletes, but for the entire community. Adaptive sports help build bridges, raise awareness, and foster a sense of inclusivity that benefits everyone.

We’d like to thank everyone who came out to support and participate in this event, from the athletes to the supporters, and especially our special guests. It was a great reminder of how strong and vibrant the adaptive sports community is, and how much we can accomplish when we come together.

Stay tuned for more Wheels in Motion events as we continue to grow the WCMX and adaptive skateboarding scene in Louisiana! We look forward to seeing more athletes try WCMX, and we can’t wait to build on today’s success.
